Former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku
will on Sunday chair an elaborate occasion in honour of distinguished
personalities of Igbo cultural zone who recently left office.
The occasion which will hold at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Lekki in Lagos, is being packaged by Ndigbo Lagos.
Briefing journalists in Lagos s on the event, President-General of
the apex body of all Igbo cultural organizations in Lagos, Prof Anya O.
Anya said that it is a special day to honour deserving sons and
daughters of Igbo land who recently left office after distinguishing
themselves in the service of their fatherland.
He said that Ndigbo Lagos had in decades past, witnessed those who
left office without leveraging opportunities of their positions to
positively impact on the nation and communities they served.
Professor Anya noted for instance, that former Governor Peter Obi,
not only brought the discipline and prudence of corporate governance
into public service, but removed the pernicious ogre of domineering
arrogance which others in such positions have been identified with over
the years, through simplicity of his lifestyle.
He described General Azubuike Ihejirika and Admiral Dele Ezeoba as
officers and gentlemen, who while they respectively commanded the
Nigerian Army and Navy over the last few years, brought humility,
loyalty and dignity to the service of their fatherland.
“Princess Stella Odua is a unique example of a visionary, organizer
and implementer of the first order. We, Ndigbo, can state without
equivocation that her impact on the Nigerian Aviation industry in such a
short period, is without equal in the annal of the industry.”
