How does the new World Cup song stack up to previous efforts?

Last month on The Rio Report we brought you the story about Shakira unveiling the new official song for the 2014 World Cup............

Well we have to confess we got that wrong, it was not THE official song, just A official song.
THE official, official, official, OFFICIAL World Cup song HAS now been released and it truly is a ménage à trois of musical royalty with Pitbull teaming up with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte to produce 'We Are One (Ole Ola).'
Okay another confession to make, we are not exactly experts on the musical oeuvres of these three but well…just have a listen to the track below.

It is fair to say that since the song has been released the reaction has been mixed…and that's being kind.
It is easy to be dismissive about these type of things of course and we are not here to put the boot in. When listening to the track, Rio Report was reminded of a famous lyric from an artist we do actually like, Mr Dylan's advice: "Don't criticise what you can't understand."
However, 'We Are One (Ole Ola)' will certainly have a tough time matching Shakira's cheerful ditty from the last World Cup – 'Waka Waka' (This Time for Africa) – which was a smash hit around the world.
That song reached the top of the charts in a number of countries although here in Britain it only climbed up to number 21.
